About Us

Pendula Cashmere Co. was established in 2012 with the aim of using traditional production methods to create high quality fabrics in a sustainable way. The acquisition of two run down Hattersley Looms found on the Isle of Lewis, an island off the north of Scotland - better known for weaving Harris Tweed, led to an 18 month restoration project to reanimate these manually powered antique machines to weave the highest quality cashmere fabrics.

The loom is powered purely through a pedal mechanism, driven by the weaver, which provides a gentle and smooth weaving action ideally suited to delicate, fine fibres such as cashmere. Our yarn is sourced locally through spinners who have a long heritage of spinning the finest Mongolian cashmere. The natural fibres and man-powered weaving mechanism mean the environmental impact of our production methods are drastically lower than other means of production, and importantly, that the scarf you buy from us has a very low carbon footprint.

Kearnan Myall

Having grown up in West Yorkshire, it was only natural that Kearnan would follow in his father, Paul’s footsteps after being fascinated by the looms and machines during many visits to textiles mills as a youth. A professional rugby player by trade, Kearnan has played for Leeds, Sale Sharks and Wasps, and has represented England. Sharing his father’s passion for creating beautiful fabric, he spent his spare time away from sport learning the ins and outs of the textile industry whilst also completing two degrees. Away from the looms, Kearnan is studying for a PhD in Psychiatry at the University of Oxford, and supports GB Olympic and Paralympic Skiers and Snowboarders.
